This KFCP fundraiser was born of parental love for their child. In November 1999, seven-year-old Jessica Orlosky succumbed to the complications of leukemia and associated kidney failure. Family and friends rallied to create a fundraising event in Jessica's memory to help other children who are battling kidney dysfunction. The first Jammin' For Jess, held at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center in January, 2000, was extraordinarily successful, raising over $20,000. Over 700 attendees enjoyed dancing to live music in a festive atmosphere -- reflecting Jessie's love of life. With the proceeds from the premiere event, the Jessica Orlosky Fund for Children with kidney disease was created. A portion of the contributions is earmarked for Camp Kydnie, a summer camp for children with kidney disease, located in Millville, Pennsylvania. Committee organizers decided to make 'Jammin' for Jess' an annual event, adding silent and Chinese auctions to further benefit children and families with kidney disease.  Annual net proceeds have more than quadrupled since the premiere event.
